VSA Bulletin: Transaction Levy POS Materials Now Available

Dear Licensees,

As the April 1, 2026 implementation date approaches, the Vehicle Sales Authority of BC (VSA) is pleased to announce that Transaction Levy point-of-sale materials are now available for download on the Industry Transaction Levy webpage.

These materials are designed to help dealers clearly explain the Transaction Levy and the role of the VSA to consumers at the point of sale.

Available in Multiple Languages

The point-of-sale material is currently available in English (link), French (link), Spanish (link), and Punjabi (link), with Hindi, Tagalog, Farsi, Simplified and Traditional Chinese coming by April 1.

The materials are provided as 4″ × 9″ rack cards that can be shared with consumers to explain the VSA and the purpose of the Transaction Levy. Each card includes a QR code linking directly to the consumer Transaction Levy webpage, where customers can learn more about the levy and how it supports consumer protection and industry programs in British Columbia.

Printed Copies Mailed to Dealers

The VSA will be mailing printed copies of the rack cards to each licensed dealership in the coming week. These are expected to arrive prior to April 1, 2026, subject to shipping timelines. Dealers are encouraged to display or distribute these cards at their dealership to help answer common consumer questions about the levy.

Additional copies can be downloaded at any time from the Industry Transaction Levy webpage, or you can indicate if you would like additional versions mailed HERE.

Reminder: Transaction Levy Effective April 1, 2026

The $10 Transaction Levy comes into effect on April 1, 2026 and applies to each consumer transaction involving a motor vehicle as defined under the Motor Dealer Act.

Licensees are reminded to ensure their dealer management systems, sales documentation, and internal processes are prepared for implementation ahead of the effective date. Past bulletins and clarifying information can be viewed below:
