Dear Licensees,
As the April 1, 2026 implementation date approaches, the Vehicle Sales Authority of BC (VSA) is pleased to announce that Transaction Levy point-of-sale materials are now available for download on the Industry Transaction Levy webpage.
These materials are designed to help dealers clearly explain the Transaction Levy and the role of the VSA to consumers at the point of sale.
Available in Multiple Languages
The point-of-sale material is currently available inย Englishย (link), Frenchย (link), Spanishย (link), and Punjabiย (link), with Hindi, Tagalog, Farsi, Simplified and Traditional Chinese coming by April 1.
The materials are provided asย 4″ ร 9″ rack cardsย that can be shared with consumers to explain the VSA and the purpose of the Transaction Levy. Each card includes aย QR code linking directly to the consumer Transaction Levy webpage, where customers can learn more about the levy and how it supports consumer protection and industry programs in British Columbia.
Printed Copies Mailed to Dealers
The VSA will beย mailing printed copies of the rack cards to each licensed dealership in the coming week. These are expected to arriveย prior to April 1, 2026, subject to shipping timelines. Dealers are encouraged to display or distribute these cards at their dealership to help answer common consumer questions about the levy.

Reminder: Transaction Levy Effective April 1, 2026
Theย $10 Transaction Levy comes into effect on April 1, 2026ย and applies to each consumer transaction involving a motor vehicle as defined under theย Motor Dealer Act.
Licensees are reminded to ensure theirย dealer management systems, sales documentation, and internal processes are prepared for implementationย ahead of the effective date. Past bulletins and clarifying information can be viewed below:
