Licensing Course Information

All new motor vehicle salespeople applying for a salesperson license must complete and pass the licensing course. A license will not be issued until a completed Salesperson Application Package is submitted and all licensing requirements are met.

  • All new motor vehicle salespeople applying for a salesperson license.
  • Returning salespeople who took the Salesperson Licensing Course prior to September 2018
  • Itโ€™s been 3 years since you took the licensing course
  • If a salesperson took the course after 2018 and has not completed the Code of Conduct module, they must complete the Code of Conduct module
  • VSA reserves the right to adjust this timeframe as required and with notice to the industry
  • Anyone who wants to be a wholesaler or wholesaler representative and does not have a VSA Salesperson License can choose to take the full Salesperson Licensing Course or the limited Wholesaler Licensing Course

The self-study online Salesperson Licensing Course provides a foundation for professional and legal selling. It explores the Motor Dealer Act, the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, the Sale of Goods Act, contract law and related legislation. The course outlines the responsibilities of a sales professional through the entire selling process, from advertising to presenting vehicles, negotiating sales to documenting transactions. The responsibilities and limitations of broker agents and broker agent representatives are covered, in addition to the requirements and restrictions of wholesale selling.

The self-study online Wholesaler Licensing Course provides a foundation for professional and legal wholesaling activities. It explores the Motor Dealer Act, the Motor Vehicle Act, contract law and related legislation. The course outlines the requirements and restrictions of wholesale selling, from use of a wholesale sales agreement to record keeping and record retention, minimum vehicle requirements to required declarations and disclosures.

Salesperson Licensing Course:

This is a self-study online course that students must complete before their Conditional License Expiry date. The course consists of assignments, forum discussions and a supervised online licensing exam.

Wholesale Licensing Course:

This a course for individuals who are only going to be operating as a Wholesaler or employed as a Wholesaler or employed as a Wholesaler Representative. This is a self-study online course that students must complete before their Conditional License expiry date. The course consists of assignments, forum discussions and a supervised online licensing exam.

Fee: $277

Salesperson Licensing Course:

  • Individual marks will be provided at the end of the formal exam
  • Participants who pass and have met all other licensing requirements will receive their full license in the mail via Canada Post
  • Participants who fail will see exam marks immediately and should arrange a new exam date via email to training@vsabc.ca

Wholesale Licensing Course:

  • Individual marks are provided at the end of the formal exam
  • Participants who fail will see exam marks immediately and should arrange a new exam date via email to training@vsabc.ca
