Licensing course policies

Course requirements

Eligibility
  • All new motor vehicle salespeople applying for a salesperson licence
  • Wholesaler Licensing: anyone who wants to be a Wholesaler or Wholesaler Representative and does not have a VSA Salesperson Licence can choose to take the Salesperson Licensing Course or the limited Wholesaler Licensing Course
  • Reinstatement (as of January 1, 2020):
    • If a salesperson is re-entering the industry and took the Salesperson Licensing Course prior to 2018 or itโ€™s been more than 3 years since they have worked in the industry, they must register and complete the Salesperson Licensing course, as well as complete any applicable Continuing Education modules
    • If a Salesperson took the course after 2018, they must complete the most recent Code of Conduct and Continuing Education modules if not yet completed
    • The VSA reserves the right to adjust this time frame as future amendments to the course are made with reasonable notice provided to the industry

Technology

  • Must have regular access to a device with a high speed Internet connection, webcam and microphone
  • Students must have basic computer skills, including using a web browser, receiving and sending emails

Cancellations

  • Cancellation requests must be emailed to VSA Training
  • Refund requests must be received within 5 business days of your course access date. Requests received will be issued a refund as following:

  • Refunds are issued back to the same method of payment and only to the party that paid for the course registration
  • Please note that Licensing fees are non-refundable

Course Expectations

Course Work

  • The Orientation assignment must be completed in order to gain access to the 4 eLearning assignments
  • The 4 eLearning assignments and 10 forum posts must be completed before you take your exam
  • All course work and exam must be completed before your Conditional Licence expiry date
  • If you do not complete your course work by your Conditional Licence Expiry date, your Conditional Licence will expire and you will no longer be able to act in the capacity of a Salesperson

Final Exam

  • All VSA exams are supervised online. You will receive details on how to book your final exam after starting the course
  • You will not have access to your exam until all course work is completed (4 eLearning assignments and 10 forum posts)
  • You must take your exam before your Conditional Licence expiry date
  • If you miss your scheduled exam, you will receive an exam cancellation notice from VSA Training, and will be required to re-book your exam
  • If you fail the exam, you will be required to retake the exam for a fee of $50. You must retake your exam within 5 business days of being notified. If you fail the exam retake or fail to take the exam within the 5 days, you will be required to re-register at full cost
  • The exam is open book. You are able to use an electronic copy of the course workbook and any notes you have taken

Course Marks

Salesperson Licensing Course marks breakdown:

You need 75 marks out of the possible 100 marks to pass the course.

  • Mandatory Course Work โ€“ 30 marks
    • 4 Assignments- 20 marks
    • 10 Forum Posts- 10 marks
  • Exam- 70 marks available
    • 70 multiple choice and true/false questions
    • Open book exam

Wholesaler Licensing Course marks breakdown:

You need 45 marks out of the possible 60 marks to pass the course.

  • Mandatory Course Work (assignments) โ€“ 24 marks
  • Final Exam โ€“ 36 marks available
    • 36 multiple choice and true/false questions
    • Open book exam

You will be notified of your course mark within 48 hours of taking the exam.

Participants who fail will be notified to discuss available options.

Translation services

  • Please contact the VSA if you require translation services. A translator can be made available to students during their exam
  • The request must be made at the time of course registration
  • Students are responsible for the translation fee
