Ian Moore is the proud Owner/Dealer Principal of Big Boy’s Toys Ltd., a recreational vehicle sales and service facility located in Nanoose Bay, B.C. on Vancouver Island. Big Boy’s Toys has been serving the island for over 42 years.
He was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. where his family established themselves five generations earlier when they founded the Moore Whittington Lumber Company in the mid- 1880’s. Moore Whittington continued to be a thriving lumber company in the region until it was bought out by B.C. Forest Products in 1964.
Following the sale of Moore Whittington, Ian’s family began diversifying their businesses and spent many years building boats, constructing residential subdivisions and managing various rental properties.
Ian’s background includes land management and development where he spent many years working for the family businesses. During his career he assisted with a wide breadth of projects primarily located in the Greater Victoria area.
Ian is active in his profession and his community. He has established himself as a strong supporter of the RV industry having served on the RVDA (Recreational Vehicle Dealer Association) of B.C.’s board for a number of years where he served as Treasurer for two terms and President for one. He continued serving as Past-President of the organization for an additional two terms.
Following his terms with the RVDA of BC, Ian involved himself on the national level and served on the RVDA of Canada as Director, Treasurer, Vice-Chair as well as Chairman. Ian had been sitting on the Motor Dealer Customer Compensation Fund (MDCCF) Board for over seven years before being appointed to the VSA Board in 2023. While with the MDCCF Board, Ian was a director and then the Chair before his appointment to the VSA Board.
Ian’s enthusiasm for the industry, his pride, integrity, unfailing passion and commitment have not gone unnoticed. In 2013, Ian was awarded the prestigious RVDA of Canada’s RV Dealer of
the Year Award.
