The VSA can issue compliance orders and administrative penalties to curbers and other unlicensed sellers.

𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴:
The maximum penalties are $100,000 for a business and $50,000 for an individual.

📄 These fees must be disclosed prior to the agreement being signed and must be included in the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) calculations.

🚫 It is improper for a dealer to indicate the fee is required by the lender if it is not.

The Consumer Services Officer (CSO) will work as part of an integrated team to ensure consumer protection and public confidence in the provincial motor vehicle sales industry. The CSO will actively support the VSA’s mandate in consumer protection by acting as the VSA’s key point of contact with consumers and providing information and assistance with public enquiries to the VSA, assistance with voluntary and impartial informal resolution of disputes, and more.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Corporate Services and Risk, the Business & Policy Analyst (Policy Analyst) is responsible for conducting policy and business analysis at the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of BC (VSA) in support of VSA’s regulatory and business operations.
