Mark Bakken retired on May 3, 2024 as Chief Administrative Officer and City Manager at the Corporation of the Township of Langley, a position he has held since 1996. After receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from SFU, Mark then went on to study law at UBC. Called to Bar in 1989, Mark served as a Barrister and Solicitor at Lindsay Kenney from 1989 to 1996 and was a founding member of the firmโs Langley office in 1991. He remains an active member of the Law Society of British Columbia and has been a seasonal instructor of Business Law at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. An active member of the community, Mark serves on numerous boards and associations, including the Regional Association of Administrators Committee, the Labour Relations Advisory Committee, and the Canadian Bar Association. In addition, he serves as Secretary for the Vancouver Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and as a board member of the Otter Co-Op. The father of two grown sons and a fervent hockey fan, Mark serves on the BC Amateur Hockey Appeals Committee and is a former president of the Langley Minor Hockey Association.
