Li-Jeen Broshko, K.C.

Li-Jeen has twenty years of corporate-commercial legal and executive experience. For the past dozen years, Li-Jeen was responsible for the legal affairs of Simon Fraser University. As General Counsel and University Secretary at SFU, Li-Jeen built and led a team of staff and lawyers. She was responsible for the Board of Governors, University Legal Counsel, University Policies, the Human Rights Office, Internal Audit, SFUโ€™s Ombuds Office, and SFUโ€™s Archives and Records Management, which includes Access to Information and Privacy. Li-Jeenโ€™s executive and legal experience spans a variety of legal areas including labour relations, employment matters, construction, IT systems, stakeholder engagement and critical incident management.

Prior to SFU, Li-Jeen was a lawyer in private practice at top-tier national firms providing advice and legal services on a range of issues including complex commercial litigation, employment matters, product liability, and securities litigation. Li-Jeen has represented clients in mediations, arbitrations, and before various courts including the BC Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada.

Li-Jeenโ€™s education includes a law degree from Dalhousie University and an M.A. and B.A. (Honours) in English from SFU. Li-Jeen is currently taking the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directorsโ€™ ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program. Li-Jeen gives time to the community and is currently a Director at Vancouver College, on the Broadway Subway Project Advisory Council at St. Augustine School, a member of the Sovereign Order of St. John, and a member of the Canadian Association of University Solicitors.

Li-Jeen likes to spend her free time with her family, skiing, biking, and traveling.
